This time of year is always full of big red love hearts, chocolates and love for other people.
And while celebrating your love for others is lovely and essential, it is just as important that you love yourself too.
Here are my top 5 ways to love yourself better this valentines day
1. Give yourself a compliment ❤
It’s so easy to put yourself down or focus on your flaws and faults, but reminding yourself what your good points, is a much more productive and healthier use of your time. Try taking a minute or two out of your day to compliment yourself on something you have done well or something you are good at.
2. Take some “me” time ❤
If you are anything like me, you probably spend most of your time thinking about other people and doing things for them. Taking some “me” time every once in a while is really important, sometimes you have to put yourself first.
3. Treat yourself ❤
Just like you buy a gift for your loved ones on Valentines day, maybe consider buying yourself a little something; maybe that new lipstick you wanted or going on a day out. Remember treating yourself doesn’t just have to mean buying yourself things. It could be that you just treat yourself to an hours uninterrupted watching of your favorite TV show or having a LUSH! bubblebath.
4. Don’t let others put you down ❤
This is some advice from Kirstles, she’s always telling me this…
“Take bad things that people say with a pinch of salt; Don’t let it bother you or play on your mind, as this will make you feel unnecessarily bad about yourself. Be yourself, who cares what other people think; You are you, and that’s what counts. As long as your happy with yourself don’t change for anyone,if they dont like what they see that’s there opinion. Never change who you are, be proud of it and keep your head held high, as your beautiful and awesome :)”
5. Encourage yourself ❤
My friends and family are my biggest supporters (Thank you guys!) but without a little faith in myself I wouldn’t ever get anything done. It’s important to encourage yourself the same way you encourage your loved ones. Give yourself a little a pep talk and help yourself to grow.
Whether you are single or not, I hope you all have a lovely Valentines day.
